Salt Tree Advisory in partnership with Trace Project Management, was engaged by Integra Technical Services to provide independent verification of flood-related damage and reinstatement works for the Cedar Party Bridge Replacement Project in Wingham, NSW. The five-span, 116-metre precast concrete girder bridge was under construction by Symal Group for MidCoast Council, replacing an ageing single-lane bridge over Cedar Party Creek — a key arterial route linking Wingham and Taree.
Following record rainfall exceeding 770 mm in May 2025, including 278 mm in a single day and a 1-in-500-year flood event, the site sustained moderate damage to temporary works, compounds, and earthworks. STA led site inspections and conducted technical reviews and analysis of reports from specialist consultants across - geotechnical, environmental, structural, and water damage specialists - to validate the extent of loss and assess reinstatement scopes. This included evaluation of scour and sedimentation damage, compound inundation (Category 3 water), access tracks, working platforms, temporary drainage, and backfill behind abutments.
Our assessment provided independent clarity and technical assurance to the insurer, balancing contractor claims with evidence-based findings and cost-efficient rectification options. The outcome was a comprehensive and defensible verification report that supported fair and timely resolution of insurance and project recovery claims while maintaining construction progress on a regionally significant bridge replacement.
